Mid-Shore Stage
The Mid Shore Route of the Chesapeake Country All-American Road offers an inspiring glimpse into the Eastern Shore’s history and culture. From backroads painted with open fields and farmland to the Main Streets of Cambridge, Denton, and Easton, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to explore. The flat, open roadways are great for road tripping, cycling, and running. Access to the water is plentiful. Hop aboard a river cruise with River City Cruise Co. or The Patriot. Sail on historic vessels including Dudley, H.M. Krentz, and Skipjack Nathan. Explore the waterways on your own at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge or charter a boat and let an experienced Captain take you to the best spots. Enjoy Maryland blue crabs, other fresh catches, and farm to table at a plethora of restaurants, including one with dishes prepared by a James Beard award winner for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic. As the birthplace of freedom seekers Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman, the Mid Shore Route is steeped in history and continues to be the home of generational watermen. The stories of which are told at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park, and Linchester Mill.
